Your Ritual Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect to Be Powerful
When I was working full-time, 60+ hour weeks, drained to the bone, I didn’t have a morning ritual.
Let’s be real, I didn’t have any ritual.
No journaling. No meditating. No time for self-care.
And even if I had the time, I didn’t have the energy.
It’s not that I didn’t need it,
I needed it more than ever.
But when you're in survival mode, it's hard to show up for yourself.
And even now, especially now, I still notice the same pattern when I’m outside the comfort of my own space.
That’s the place where it slips the fastest.
I was just in Colorado helping my brother and sister-in-law with their new baby.
I brought my journal, my oracle cards, everything I needed to stay in rhythm.
And still, I didn’t do it.
Because I was out of my element, out of routine, surrounded by other people’s spaces, other people’s energy.
It’s like my nervous system automatically shifts into care mode and forgets about me altogether.
That’s the edge I’m working on—holding my rituals even when I’m not in my comfort zone.
Because that’s when I need them the most.
At home, they’re second nature.
When I don’t do them, I feel it.
I get scattered, unfocused, disconnected.
And I carry this quiet sense of “off-ness” all day, like I forgot something important.
Because I did.
My ritual is how I remember who I am.
It’s how I come back to center.
It’s how I connect to Source, the Earth, my truth.
And the more I show up for it, the more I notice how much smoother the rest of my day flows.
Tasks feel lighter.
Decisions feel easier.
I can hear myself more clearly.
I used to treat ritual like a checklist, this five-step process I had to get “right.”
Now it’s more fluid.
Some mornings it’s journaling and cards.
Some mornings it’s chanting or chakra work.
Some mornings I dance barefoot in the grass and call it good.
What matters is that I take the time.
I make the space.
I remind myself: you matter.
What makes it work isn’t how it looks,
it’s how it feels.
It’s the intention behind it.
The way it brings you back to yourself, even if only for a moment.
That’s what makes it powerful.
So if you’re in a season where it’s hard to show up—especially when you’re out of your element—start small.
Five minutes.
One card.
A deep breath.
A moment that says, “I’m here. I choose me.”
That’s the whole point.
